Raider rookie receiver and kick return specialist, Jacoby Ford, has won another award. This time it is Special Teams Player of the Month for November. He did it by putting bookends on November of kick return touchdowns.
His first return touchdown came in the week 9 win over the Chiefs and it went for 94 yards. That feat won him Special Team Player of the Week. Combined with his amazing catches in the game won him Pepsi Rookie of the Week honors as well.
His latest kick return touchdown went for 101 yards, as he took it out of the endzone, and it was the first ever opening kickoff return touchdown in Raiders history. That return plus his 4 catches for 108 yards and a touchdown, have him nominated for his 2nd Pepsi Rookie of the Week Award. The award recipient will be announced on Friday. The Raiders only played three games in November with their bye week coming in the 2nd week of the month. In those three games, he amassed 283 yards receiving on 12 catches. Ten of those catches for 256 yards came in the Chiefs and Dolphins games– the same games in which he had the return touchdowns. So it appears when he is on, he is really on.
If he manages to return another kickoff for a score this season, he will be odds on favorite to win Special Teams Player of the Year. That would be a tremendous accomplishment for a rookie.
