Jacoby Ford out with broken hand

Raider head coach Hue Jackson revealed today that second year wide receiver Jacoby Ford is out with a broken hand. The timetable according to Jackson is two weeks although that seems like more of an optimistic estimate. Either way, he will miss the Raiders’ first preseason game and perhaps more.

Ford came on late last season and was set to compete for one of the top three receiver spots on the team. His absence may mean he gets lapped by Louis Murphy and Chaz Schilens, who are both playing well.

Darrius Heyward-Bey has also not been practicing and it remains to be seen where he will fall on the depth chart.

Ford had become extremely valuable late last season both as a receiver as well as a return specialist. He returned three kickoffs for touchdowns last season.
