Raiders make their roster cut, work out three players

The Raiders had to make a roster cut today to make room for Terrelle Pryor. That player turned out to be cornerback Joe Porter. They also worked out three other players along the offensive and defensive line.

The three linemen the Raiders worked out were offensive linemen Zach Hurd and Cole Pemberton and defensive lineman Jay Ross.

The immediate thought would be that Samson Satele’s sprained knee will cause him to miss some time. He and his teammates say that will not happen. Hue Jackson said that if Satele were to miss time, Stefen Wisniewski would move to center and Joseph Barksdale would fill in at left guard.

I spoke to Barksdale and he had no doubts that Satele would not miss a game. Monday Satele was confident he would be fine as well.

“I’m good. I’m ready to go,” said Satele. When I asked him how confident he was about playing next week he responded with, “Oh yeah. Come on man, we’re playing the Chiefs.” He has never missed a game from injury in his NFL career so I am inclined to believe him.

As for the players being worked out today, they could just be precautionary measures.

Joe Porter was a surprise when he made the team out of camp. It appears the team favors newly signed Ron Parker at corner making Porter expendable.
