Raiders ink Duke Calhoun

Raiders ink Duke CalhounThe Raiders announced that they signed veteran WR Duke Calhoun to the team and he has already appeared with the team by participating in the voluntary mini-camp earlier this week.

Calhoun was an undrafted free agent in 2010 but still managed to make the active roster for the Giants.  He played in 9 games, sustained an injury and was put on injured reserve.  He came to an injury settlement with the team last preseason and was released.  He did not sign on with any team last year – it’s likely he was still recovering from the injury which was listed as a hamstring injury.

He is far from a lock to make the team and may just be a camp body at the position but the only wide receivers that would seem to be guaranteed a spot on this year’s team are Darrius Heyward-Bey, Denarius Moore and Jacoby Ford, so there is definitely a possibility that he can play his way into a roster position.

Calhoun was productive in college, playing at Memphis.  He played in 49 games, starting 26, and recorded 212 receptions for 2981 yards and 19 TDs.

He has good size, as well, being listed at 6’2″ 200 lbs on NFL.com.  He wore number 14 in the mini-camp for the Raiders.
