Raiders sign Justin Tuck for a reported 2 years, up to $11 million

New York Giants Justin TuckThe Raiders tried to put yesterday’s events behind them by signing former Giants defensive end Justin Tuck today, for a reported two year contract worth up to $11 million. The guaranteed money has not been disclosed.

Tuck has been a very productive force for the New York Giants since 2007.

In the last seven seasons he has played in 107 of 112 possible games, missing only 5 games since 2007.

In those seven seasons, he has amassed impressive stats, too. He has 59.5 sacks since 2007, with 11 of those sacks coming last season. He adds another 23 passes deflected and 2 interceptions and 20 forced fumbles.

Tuck told the media, “`Last week I absolutely did not see this coming. It was not on my radar.” He added that had a good feeling about Reggie McKenzie from their interactions and he feels that McKenzie is building a consistently competitive team, like McKenzie helped to build in his time in Green Bay.

Aside from his stats, Tuck also brings two Super Bowl rings with him from New York. The Raiders will look for him to bring a winning attitude to a locker room that is void of much veteran leadership.
