Prior to tonight’s game, Bob McKenzie tweeted that New York Rangers forward Wojtek Wolski will not face any supplementary discipline for the advertent/inadvertent elbow that landed upside Daniel Alfredsson’s cranium. Earlier this evening, in his regular pre-game appearance on the team1200 Bob McKenzie revealed that the thinking inside the league is that this was a case of a player seeing another at the last minute and “bracing” for impact. Much like “Steckel on Crosby”,”Ference on Halpern”, and “Neil on Grabovski“; all of which resulted in no fine or suspension. At the least the precedent on these accidental on-purpose picks has been consistent. No update on Alfie’s condition/ailment either.
Lineup Notes
Late last night came word Nikita Filatov had been recalled to Ottawa. However it looks like he’ll find himself in the pressbox once again as Bobby Butler is the one finding himself back into the lineup. The rationale for the Filatov call-up has since been revealed to have been in the event Konopka was suspended.
The other less unexpected but nonetheless exciting news is Lehner getting his first start of the season. This one should be a dandy.
