Talkin’ on the Radio: Latest ‘Advanced Chats’ on @TSN1200

On Friday afternoon, Ian Mendes and I recorded another episode for his weekly ‘Advanced Chats’ program that airs each Sunday at 9:00 am on TSN 1200.

For those who have not had the opportunity to catch an episode, Ian uses this program to serve as a platform for local Senators bloggers to provide their own insight and analysis for the recent happenings involving the Ottawa Senators.

It’s pretty generous and unique opportunity for each blog or blogger to reach a larger audience, so I highly encourage you all to listen in or download the latest episode each week to not only support local radio, but also to support blogs like mine or any of the other excellent alternatives that exist in the Senators’ blogosphere.

All of the ‘Advanced Chats’ shows are archived on the TSN 1200 website and they can be accessed here. My first appearance (November 8), can also be found here.

During this week’s episode, Ian and I examined the Senators at the midway point in the season, contrasting their early struggles with their recent string success. We discussed the state of the blue line and whether the time has come to cut bait with the likes of Jared Cowen or an Alex Chiasson. Ian also asked me to comment on a number of separate blog pieces that: 1) asked whether Jonathan Drouin or Jason Zucker were fits for a prospective trade; and 2) reflected on Bryan Murray’s tenure as a general manager of the Ottawa Senators.

In discussing Murray’s tenure, I probably spent too much time downplaying his draft record and talking about how he tried to preserve Ottawa’s window of contention after their 2007 Cup Final appearance without really touching upon how he has to deal with the pressures from ownership and the limited financial budget, but if you really want to get my true assessment that chronicled how Murray was an improvement over Muckler but no longer good enough to help the Senators ascend to Cup contention, read this.

This episode of ‘Advanced Chats’ can be streamed via TSN 1200‘s website or by using the embedded audio player at the bottom of this post. You can also download the file as an MP3 using this link.

Any and all feedback is welcomed and if you really feel compelled, you can send @TSNJR or @ian_mendes tweets to let them know how much you’re enjoying ‘Advanced Chats’.

Thanks for listening and I hope you enjoy the show!
