Niko’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers Draft Analysis

Myron Lewis
Myron Lewis is a physical Corner who will not let backs gain yardage outside.
Somewhere Mark Dominik and Raheem Morris are sitting saying to themselves, Vini Vidi Vici! The Tampa Bay Buccaneers completed one of the best played drafts in as long as I have been following the team. It takes a long time to grade a draft; we can look back at 2007 and see how well that one is starting to pan out, probably Gruden/Allen’s best. This one however really addresses needs, and when I say addresses, its probably safter to say FILLS needs, as in Defensive Tackle who will be filling lot of space in 2010! Gerald McCoy is the 3 technique pass rusher the Bucs have needed since Sapp left at the end of 2003. McCoy is known for disrupting the offense, and that in turn causes QBs to throw errant passes. Sacks are not as needed, even though they are nice, t hey usually dont result in a turn over like pressure does. Brian Price is capable of the same explosion, but Price can stand up people. The Bucs will NOT rank dead last in rushing next season. Do not expect these players to be Sapp and Culpepper, much less overnight. Warren Sapp was not really Sapp until 1997, his 3rd year. Wide Receiver is a huge need for the Bucs, or rather it was. The Bucs pretty much went out and drafted their probable entire receiving corps for the next decade. When you add Sammy Stroughter to the mix, you have 1, 2, 3 right there in front of you. Mr. Clayton, can you say “renegotiate”? Arrelious Benn is 6-1 219 pounds of outside receiving target. He can get seperation, and if he cant, Mike Williams will. Williams has some strikes against him. He has a speeding ticket. Other than that, its he said she said. Ive been tough against picking up guys like Brandon Marshall. This guy had ONE event in his life. Its not the same thing. Our future corner is Myron Lewis, and he is a physical corner. He is PERFECT for the Tampa Two…and will excel much like Ronde did vs the run. Look for him to be the nickle back next year…but at some point, Ronde will be giving up the last keys to the vaunted Bucs defense to one of these guys. When you look at these pick, does it not want to make you laugh at the idiots on Bucem who wanted to trade these guys for Brandon Marshall? Or Bouldin? and for what? to get 2 extra wins next year? Thankfully, if your reading this, your not being fooled by the stupidity. Its an exciting time in Bucland, like Jon Gruden once said, the Futures so bright, I gotta wear shades!
