Q: How many times have the Bucs beaten the NY Jets? When was the last time? Frankie A. M. Holiday, FL A: Sad answer to this question, is that the last time the Bucs beat the Jets, it was 1984, and it was John McKay’s last game coaching the Bucs. The Bucs have never won since, and for those superstitious people, you may think its because of the events of that game. Bucs coach McKay ordered his defense to fall back and let the Jets score a TD so the Bucs could get the ball back and try to get James Wilder an all time yardage record. He never got the record. The next year, in New York, the Jets pounded the Bucs 62-28! A Curtis Martin TD PASS to Wayne Chrebet later, and a Vinny off the Bench 2005 affair, and the Bucs STILL havn’t beated them J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets. Q: Who will be the Punt and Kick Off returner in 2010? Kenny P, Valrico, FL A: Kenny, in all probability Clifton Smith will be the Kickoff Returner and Punt returner, but lookout for Sammy Stroughter who brought back a KO too. Its going to be hard for the Bucs to get rid of Michael Spurlock. Q: If throwback weekend was such a success, why did the Bucs change uniforms in the first place? Brittney C. Gary, IN A: It was a simple matter of creating a new image. The Throwback weekend was a success because it had been so long since the Bucs wore Orange, and few people were around for when they last did wear those uniforms. Truth is, the Bucs had 15 straight losing seasons, and 14 of them were of 10 losses or more each year! The Bucs had a very bad image, and no one remembered the Orange Uniformed Bucs winning and going to the playoffs in 1979-82, all they remembered was the losing. When the Glazers bought the team in 1994, they decided a change was in order. In One Buc Place, there is a helmet with all of the other designs that did not pass for the Bucs new uniforms. Some of them would make pretty cool alternate Sundays! Thank You again for your questions! Don’t forget to send your emails to [email protected] and I will answer them on ANSWER FRIDAYS!!
