Winslow wont be heard from much during offseason, as Barber shines in his twighlight

The surgery is a minor one to clean up scar tissue from previous operations.
He wont be out of training camp, and its not a major surgery, in fact its just to clean up scar tissue from previous surgeries, but Kellen Winslow, the Bucs premier Tight End and offensive weapon, will be limited in what he can do during the offseason. This is the 5th surgery for Winslow, but again, its nothing to be worried about or fret over. Surely some will make it out into more than it already is (Sileo) and you will have others who will call him a poor move by current coaching regime (other websites). Dont be fooled by either. Carlton Powell, a Diamond in the rough?- He was a standout at Virginia Tech, but he was injured even before his training camp with Denver, so they had NO IDEA what they had, when they shipped him off to Cleveland, only to return again. Well now he is with the Bucs, and they like what they see in the 300# 6’3″ lineman who is being looked at as a defensive end despite his size. Ronde Barber: Last of Dungy’s Heroes- Don’t fool yourself if you think Ronde Barber cant play. On film he did not have that bad of a year at all, in fact it was a pretty good year for him, as he got to scoop and score in Orange for the first time. Joining his fellow Bucs heroes who all got to wear the Orange when it was en vogue, Barber was drafted in 1997 when the Bucs had already made the switch to Pewter. The fact that he played hardly a down in ’97 means Barber was a ‘built for the new era’ Buccaneer, starting and playing almost 99.9% of his career in Pewter and in Raymond James Stadium (The Pewter clad Bucs played one season in the old sombrero in 1997 before the RayJay was built. Barber is without a contract after this year, and it appears he may be the only player of the Bunch that gets to go out on his terms. Jersey Number Changes- Keep up with your new Bucs, and some older ones, as each year Uniforms change from time to time.

  • Roy Miller gave up his #93 to Rookie Gerald McCoy, and now sports #90 last worn  by Gaines Adams.  A famous ex Bucs to wear 90 was Chidi Ahanatu.
  • Dre Moore was #92 last year, but gave that to UCLA Rookie Price. Moore will wear 95 now, which was Chris Hovan’s number. And yes, Chidi wore 95 once too!
  • Erik Lorig will wear #97 made famous by Simeon Rice.
  • And finally, WR Urrutia who wore 19 last year is sporting Antonio Bryant’s old #89 now. Kevin House wore that number, as did Mar Carrier in his first season.
  • The Bucs have always had one WR in the 80s on the field since the new lower numbers became popular again, but if the new rookies take off, we could see a pair of teens starting at WR one day. Arrelious Benn wears 17, and Mike Williams has 19, which of late was Ike Hilliards jersey number as well as Keyshawn Johnsons. Steve Deberg was a famous 17!
  • Myron Lewis will have 23, which was Jermaine Phillips number, as Phillips is no longer on the Bucs roster. Marty Carter rings a Bell.
  • Punter Brent Bowden wore #1 and Safety Cody Grimm is 35.
