Dissecting the schedule- The Start

Bucs 2010 season starts out favorably.
While were waiting for the OTAs to come at a fast and furious pace, and then the boring month before training camp opens, we can take a look at whats is going to be the beginning of the 2010 season. The one nice thing about the 2010 schedule is how spaced out everything is. Only once will the Bucs have to play back to back division opponents, and that is not until November 7th and 14th. There are three division games in the first half of the season, and three division games in the last half. Remember last year when the Bucs opened up with the entire NFC East in the first 5 games? Well this year they play 3 of the 4 AFC North teams in the first 4 games, and even though Cincinnati was a playoff team last year, only Pittsburgh has been a consistent playoff team. The Bucs will open the 2010 year at home against the Cleveland Browns, and even though they won a bunch of games at the end of the year, a lot has happened since. Coaching changes, QB changes, and Cleveland spells ‘Opportunity’ for the Bucs to start the season 1-0, and a fresh beginning to a bunch of young opportunistic players hungry to make a difference. The first quarter of the season represents only ONE NFC opponent, an away game at Carolina. Home games vs Cleveland and Pittsburgh, and the at Cincinnati game do not hurt the Bucs in the NFC picture at all. And in the second quarter, two games against the weakest division in football, the NFC West, give the Bucs and its fans even more reason to believe a turn around year is possible in 2010.
