Former Auburn coach and current head coach of the Akron Zips, Terry Bowden WAIT WHEN THE HELL DID THAT HAPPEN HOW LONG HAVE I BEEN ASLEEP had a warrant issued for his arrest after failing to pay the fine from speeding ticket he received this past July 4th weekend. Bowden has since paid the ticket and his brush with the courts/lawmen of lower Alabama appears to be over.
Though Bowden was given tickets for speeding (60 in a 35) and an improper tag, I thought it was awfully nice of the officer to not cite Bowden for driving without his required booster seat, especially since it was the July 4th weekend. While I haven’t driven through that stretch of I-65 on July 4th weekend, I’ve been through there at the end of a Memorial Day Weekend and those cops give no quarter.
The officer’s act of mercy was probably the result of a bit of admiration over the fact that Terry is somehow the one Bowden with a head coaching job, though you can certainly argue that Akron doesn’t really count (2-22 since 2010). Out of this story of minor chuckles, we can only hope that during the Bowden family 4th of July gathering, an idea was hatched that will one day lead to a coaching staff made up of ALL THE BOWDENS.
