9 days until Ole Miss has to field its first punt of the 2013 season, assuming the defense is not a Tyrone-Nix-On-Fire defense. Last year was quite the adventure for Ole Miss punt returners, mainly Korvic Neat doing Korvic Neat things like dropping the ball or not catching it and letting it roll 25 yards.
The last punt returner in which I had any confidence was Cory Peterson, and not because he was anything special, but because he just waived for a fair catch every time (minus that one TD return against SMU) and caught the ball. Boring and safe, yes, but he steered us clear of any wailing and gnashing of teeth in that area.
9 is also the Mississippi State football team record for consecutive bales of hay thrown. The record would have been 10, but as you can see in the picture above, we've got a clear foot foul there, which wipes out what would have been the record-setting 10th throw.
