All around the globe ( I can say that now, as I have infuriated peoples in two continents to date) people have taken my words and contorted them to meet their own agenda and/or image. It would almost seem that the Unhappy Bucs fan is not happy unless he makes others unhappy as well. You really don’t hear or read anyone talk about the Bucs in a positive manner, unless of course its a rebuttal to a negative comment heard/written somewhere else. These negative fans or Negative Nancys as I like to call them, will take something positive and turn it into something negative like the brush up of a rotten apple. Most of their argument is full of fallacies. Take “Chris”, a poster on another message board who says to me “I have been “Pro Bucs” since you were crapping in your nappies”. Really Chris? Because I was 10 years old in 1975 when the Bucs were announced as a team, and 11 for the first season. I have no problem telling the world I did not become a Bucs fan until 1979 when I was 14. Congrats on having three more years of being a Buc fan on me, a lot of good its done you! What they don’t seem to understand, is that the positive Bucs fan isn’t trying to tell them not to have an opinion. Were not trying to say you have to either be rosy or gone. What were simply trying to say is, Why would you WANT to be so negative when your a fan of your team? Arn’t there enough fans of other teams to be negative towards the Bucs? But thats nothing if not frustrating compared to the real mystery thats out there; How, if you have been a Bucs fan since 1976 or so like so many claim to be, and you went through that 1983-1996 drought, can you possibly be so negative about one losing season? When the Bucs went out and drafted more talent last year than I can remember in a whole offseason!! To me its an end that can never be self serving. If the Bucs stink for the next couple of years, we will still be here talking of brighter days. If the Bucs start to win and make the playoffs, the Nancys will morph into us, and we will never tell them apart. Except for the great internet equalizer known as posts!
