On January 15th 2009, Steve Duemig was doing his daily “Big Dog” radio show on 620 AM WDAE, the Buccaneers flagship Radio Station. A caller chimed in that he felt something wierd was going on, and Duemig reiterated that he too was being asked often if Jon Gruden’s job was safe. What was unusual was the timing of the questions, about 3 weeks after Bucs ended their season miserably; losing 4 in a row to become the first NFL team to finish out of the playoffs after starting with a 9-3 record. Not even 30 minutes later the news broke of Gruden’s firing. The following is a recording of the caller, and then skips directly to the news update. Recording courtesy of 620 WDAE AM Radio.
Duemig was correct that the Glazers had someone ready to go, although his first thought was wrong, he later (not on the recording here) mentioned that Raheem Morris could and should get consideration, and that Morris easilly could be the Bucs next head coach.
