It was a stretch of 406 days between college football jobs, but thanks to the good people of Arkansas State, Trooper Taylor’s towel will wave once more. Taylor will spend 2014 coaching defensive backs for the Red Wolves, as well as turning Jonesboro into a destination for football recruits one limo visit to their high school at a time.
Trooper’s addition to the Arkansas State staff under new coach Blake Anderson has brought a jolt of energy to the staff, school, and fans, but the community of Jonesboro is also seeing a bump in business. The Jonesboro pre-paid cell phone market has seen a tremendous spike in the last 12 hours, as local merchants are reporting that their supplies of the phones are nearly exhausted (limousine rental companies are also expected to see a boost in business).
So when Trooper runs for office of some kind in 5 years (WHAT A DAY THAT WILL BE), he can legitimately say, “Trooper Taylor: Good for Business”, then towel-wave his way into the voting booth and into office.
And while Arkansas State welcomes its new assistant coach, we can finally blow out the last candle for the Trooper Taylor vigil and turn off Sarah McLachlan’s “Angel”, which has been playing on a loop since December 2012.
Spend all your time waiting
for that second chance
for a break that would make it okay
there’s always some reason
to feel not good enough
and it’s hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
oh beautiful release
memories seep from my veins
let me be empty
and weightless and maybe
I’ll find some peace tonight
In the arms of the angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you’re in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here
