Torrie Cox was the first guy to look like he had potential to get the job done. But when Michael Spurlock returned a kick vs the Houston Texans, you almost knew he was going to give the Bucs the best shot at finally breaking the curse. Sure enough a game later, Michael Spurlock made history against the Atlanta Falcons, and repeated the feat on Sunday in Atlanta. For good measure, Spurlock returned a punt for a touchdown against the Saints last year, so he is an NFC South killer! But it’s more than that, Rich Bisaccia has kept the Bucs Special Teams up among the NFLs best for years in various criteria. Tampa Bay’s kickoff and punt coverage teams are annually tops in the league, the 2006 game at Chicago always comes to mind. Devin Hester was at the prime of his returning career, and the Bucs kicked off right to him when Blue Adams hit him so hard he fumbled and the Bucs took the ball over deep in Chicago territory. Sunday, Sabby Piscitelli, who is not really starter material at safety, adds that much more to the stability and talent on Special Teams. It was a shame the defense could not stop Atlanta when Sabby pinned them back to their own One. Great play by Sabby… check it out….
