Our nations’ capital was struck Friday evening…by two Bushes.
One, the former owner of the Texas Rangers, celebrated his 61st birthday.
The other celebrated his 7th win of the season–a 6-2 win over the Nationals. Dave Bush celebrated 7/07/07 a day early–going 7 IP, striking out 7, and giving up 7 hits. Fortunately, Bush only allowed one ER and only walked two.
On the offense, Ryan Braun celebrated the first multi-HR game of his young MLB career–first a solo shot in the first off of Nationals’ starter Mike Bacsik, then another solo shot in the fifth…also off Bacsik. Kevin Mench also smacked a homer in the first off of Bacsik, a 3-run shot…both Braun’s and Mench’s homers came with two outs.
Oh, and to all the guys in my fantasy league that reminded me that the Crew lost 3 of 4 to the Pirates–um, the Cubs dropped their first game in PNC Friday evening, 8-4. So the Brewers are now 5½ up on the Cubs (5 in the loss column), and have lowered the Magic Number to 72.
