Cerveceros gana

{My apologies if I conjugated the verb incorrectly}
The Cerveceros de Milwaukee beat the Rockies, 4-3, in the rubber match on Sunday. The Crew took the series, 2-1, but gained no ground, as the Cubs finished off their sweep of the Astros at Wrigley.
Suppan earned a “quality start” with 2 ER in 6 IP, while fanning 5. Matt Wise pitched a scoreless 7th (and earned the win), Turnbow surrendered a solo home run to Brad Hawpe in the 8th, and Coco Cordero finished off Colorado in the 9th to earn his 28th save of the year.
Kevin Mench’s pinch-hit triple in the top of the 7th plated Geoff Jenkins, and scored what turned out to be the winning run on a Jeremy Affeldt wild pitch.
Next up: The Diamondbacks (49-43) pay a visit to Miller Park…former Brewer Doug Davis is scheduled to face his former teammates on Wednesday, slated to square off against his friend and fellow southpaw, Chris Capuano. The Diamondbacks’ Cy Young award winner from a year ago, Brandon Webb, won’t pitch in the 4-game series, as he got the start on Sunday against the Padres. And, for reasons unbeknownst to me, Dave Bush gets the nod tomorrow night over former Diamondback Claudio Vargas. Vargas should go Tuesday, while either Ben Sheets or Yovani Gallardo will go Thursday afternoon.
