Brews muster only 4 singles in loss to Bucs

The Brewers dropped back into a tie for first with a 9-0 loss at PNC Monday evening…it was closer than the score would indicate…at least through the first 4½ innings.

But then Nate McLouth tagged Brewers’ starter Carlos Villanueva for a 2-run shot in the bottom of the 5th, and then the flood gates opened, as Matt Wise, Brian Shouse, Seth McClung, and Greg Aquino all gave up earned runs in the last three innings.

Of course, the 2-run homer would have been sufficient, given the fact that the offense could only muster 4 singles off of Bucs’ pitching. Tony Armas got to feel like Cy Young for the first time in his career, holding the Crew to only 3 hits over 6 IP en route to the win.

Yovani Gallardo tries to get the Crew back on track Tuesday night.
