Laynce Nix was optioned to AAA Nashville, almost certainly paving the way for Gabe Kapler (a.k.a. “The Original ‘Hebrew Hammer'”) to make the 25-man roster…at least until Mike Cameron is done with his suspension.
At first I was a bit upset with this move, but, after thinking about it a little while, realized that Nix is still in the organization’s plans (if he’s not claimed), and still has a shot at making the parent club down the road; meanwhile, Kapler is almost certainly the odd man out when Cameron returns…unless either Gross or Gwynn get out of the blocks slowly.
