A quick two games series saw Philadelphia arrive in Milwaukee sometime early Wednesday morning and head out of town before dinner on Thursday. That short time saw the return of a Brewers’ great and the return of our current superstar.
So the Brewers won one and lost one. Jeff Suppan deserved a better fate on Thursday than to have David Riske blow it for him. Dave Bush pitched well enough to keep the Brewers in the game so Prince Fielder could play the role of hero.
Jeff Suppan pitched seven innings on Thursday and only gave up a single run. The offense could only manage one run and were caught stealing two times by Phillies pitcher, Jaime Moyer. Aggressive base running is great, but you still need to be smart about it. Suppan is having another good April but he isn’t getting the victories like he did last season.
The only problem I have with Bush was the three home runs he gave up Wednesday night. He is pitching better each time out, and he is showing he deserves to stay in the rotation. Manny Parra needs to step it up big time. In my opinion, he’s the one that has done the least to deserve a spot in the rotation. Don’t get me wrong, he has great stuff but he still needs to learn how to pitch at the big league level.
Next up is a three games series against the Florida Marlins. Yovani Gallardo will make his second start of the year Friday night for the Crew.
