The Brewers finish their homestand with their first series of the year against the current NL East leader Florida Marlins, who share an identical 13-9 mark with the Brewers.
Pitching Probables:
Friday, 4/25, 7:05 p.m. CT: LHP Scott Olsen (3-0, 2.60) vs. RHP Yovani Gallardo (0-0, 1.29)
Saturday, 4/26, 6:05 p.m. CT: LHP Mark Hendrickson (4-1, 3.82) vs. RHP Carlos Villanueva (1-2, 5.09)
Sunday, 4/27, 1:05 p.m. CT: RHP Ricky Nolasco (1-2, 5.91) vs. LHP Manny Parra (1-1, 5.40)
Things to watch for:
1. The Brewers send their three “young guns” to face the Marlins; while Gallardo’s spot in the rotation is safe, Villanueva and Parra get one last chance to show manager Ned Yost and GM Doug Melvin that they deserve to remain in the rotation along with Sheets, Suppan, and Gallardo.
2. Will Gabe Kapler continue to tear up left-handed pitching–while Kapler has hit .333 against lefties as well as .333 against righties, all four of his home runs this season have been off of left-handers.
3. Can Prince Fielder keep up his .419 OBP over the last 7 games, despite seeing lefty starters in two of the three games…or beat his 4 home runs in April of last season (he’s had 3 so far in April, ’08)?
