It was another rough night for Brewers’ pitcher Dave Bush. After back-to-back great performances, Bush was due for a lousy outing and that’s exactly what he had Saturday night against the Rockies. Bush lasted only four innings while giving up five runs and two homers. All of the damage against Bush came in the first inning. After getting the first two outs with relative ease, Bush allowed a double by Ryan Spilborghs and then walked Todd Helton and Garrett Atkins to load the bases. Brad Hawpe immediately cleared the bases with his second career grand slam. Chris Iannetta promptly followed that up with a home run and the Brewers were in a 5-0 hole after only one inning.
Bush lasted three more innings and didn’t allow another run before being pinch hit for. Mark DiFelice came on and allowed a home run and Tim Dillard allowed the Rockies last run in the eighth for the 7-2 Rockies victory.
The Brewers scored their runs in the second inning on RBI singles by Russell Branyan and Jason Kendall. It was far too little offensive production to compete with the Rockies in Colorado.
The Crew has now dropped two in a row after their outstanding 8-1 record on their last home stand. Jeff Suppan looks to salvage on gave against the Rockies later on today as he faces Jeff Francis of the Rockies. Look for it to happen since the Brewers destroy left-handed pitching.
