Nothing goes right for the Brewers

I waited to talk about yesterday’s game because I was hoping the sickening feeling I had watching it would have gone away by now, but time has still not healed that wound. I shouldn’t have been surprised because it seems like the Twins always spank the Brewers when they come to Miller Park and Friday night’s 10-2 loss to the Twins was no different.
Dave Bush took the loss and battled all night long. Bush gave up four runs in six innings. He finally did not allow a home run in his start but the 10 hits and the batter he walk doomed him. Well that and the Brewers sub-par defense.
Bill Hall is filling in for the injured Rickie Weeks at second base and his defensive woes have followed him across the diamond. Hall made two fielding errors on the night and now has 15 for the year.
Hall’s biggest victim due to one of his errors was Tim Dillard. Hall was unable to field a ground ball in the seventh inning and Dillard surrendered five runs in the inning, none of which were earned. Hall is a complete mess both at the plate and in the field with no cure in sight for either sickness.
The offense seems to be bi-polar. One game they are hitting on all cylinders and look like a juggernaut and the next the bats look completely dead and they players look over-matched no matter who the pitcher is. The beautiful thing about baseball is that today is a new day and the Brewers can quickly wipe away the horrible game of last night. Jeff Suppan will take the mound for the Brewers and try for his fifth win of the season.
In other Brewers news, the team released pitcher Jeff Weaver on Friday. Weaver was having no success at Triple A Nashville so the Brewers cut their losses. JJ Hardy will not play at all this weekend to rest his sore shoulder and will be re-evaluated on the team’s off day on Monday to decide further action. David Riske will start a rehab assignment in Nashville on Tuesday and if everything goes well, he will rejoin the team next weekend. Eric Gagne is said to be no where close to a return but Brewers fans don’t care as this is the only way that Gagne can’t blow a save.
