The Brewers start the second half of their 2008 season with four games in Phoenix against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Crew enters the series in 3rd place, 4 games behind the Cubs in the loss colum. The Brewers swept the D-backs in three games earlier this month in Milwaukee.
Pitching Probables:
Monday, 6/30, 8:40 p.m. CT: RHP Dave Bush (4-7, 4.94) vs. LHP Doug Davis (2-3, 3.68)
Tuesday, 7/01, 8:40 p.m. CT: RHP Jeff Suppan (4-6, 4.05) vs. LHP Randy Johnson (4-6, 4.94)
Wednesday, 7/02, 8:40 p.m. CT: RHP Seth McClung (5-3, 4.25) vs. RHP Micah Owings (6-7, 5.18)
Thursday, 7/03, 2:40 p.m. CT: LHP Manny Parra (8-2, 3.95) vs. RHP Brandon Webb (12-4, 3.21)
Things to look for:
1. Can the Crew take 3 out of 4 to finish the road trip with a winning record?
2. Can McClung replicate his 1 ER over 6 IP vs. the D-backs on June 3rd? In that same game, Randy Johnson fanned 8, but allowed 4 runs (3 earned) en route to the loss.
3. The Brewers have not seen Brandon Webb yet in ’08…can they knock around Webb enough to give Ben Sheets an edge up to be the NL starter for the All-Star game? Webb has a 3.21 ERA for the year…but a 3.88 ERA at home, and a 4.76 ERA for the month of June.
