Dave Bush had the best outing of his career on Thursday in an 11-1 thrashing of the Rockies. Bush struck out a career high 13 in eight innings while allowing only three hits and a single Rockies’ run. It is the third straight outing in a row at Miller Park that Bush has been nearly unhitable. Bush picked up his fifth victory on the season and lowered his season ERA to 4.39.
The offense looked nothing like it did last night as the team exploded for 11 runs, including a 6-run outburst in the fourth. Gabe Kapler led the team with three hits, all of which were doubles. Kapler also drove in two runs. Prince Fielder hit his second triple of the season and drove in two runs. JJ Hardy also knocked in two and hit his 13th homer of the season. Corey Hart, who found out after the game of his All-Star selection, hit his 15th home run of the season. Ryan Braun finished with two hits and three RBIs.
The Crew picked up a game on the Cubs and Cards who both lost. The Brewers are now in the wild card lead and sit four back of first place Chicago. The Reds are coming to town for the weekend. Manny Parra will take the mound for the Brewers Friday night against Josh Fogg of the Reds.
