Ryan Braun is the Hero of the Night

In a season that is starting to look more and more special each day, it seems there’s a new hero each day as well. The last couple of days it has been Bill Hall and Thursday night was Ryan Braun’s turn. With the Brewers trailing 3-2 in the ninth, Braun came up to bat with JJ Hardy on first. Braun launched a Ryan Franklin pitch into deep left-center to give the Brewers a 4-3 lead.
Salomon Torres came on in the bottom of the ninth and recorded his 19th save of the season to give the Brewers a sweep of the Cardinals, a perfect 7-0 road trip and their eighth win in a row.
Ben Sheets got through seven strong innings giving up only three runs while striking out four. Eric Gagne came on and pitched a scoreless eighth inning to pick up his third win of the season.
Okay, this is getting to be some serious fun. The Brewers now return to Miller Park with a record of 59-43, only one game behind the Cubs. The Brewers completed a seven game road sweep of the Giants and Cardinals. They have a winning record of 28-26 on the road. The Crew now faces the Astros for a three game series over the weekend before the Cubs come to town for a clash of the titans series starting on Monday.
