The best thing about the Brewers’ 10-4 win over the Pirates Friday night? It was that they knew that the Cubs had lost earlier in the day (to the Nationals) so a win ensure moving up a notch in the standings.
Starter Dave Bush spotted the Pirates an early 2-0 lead after 1½ innings, but the Crew plated three in the 4th inning and never looked back. J.J. Hardy, Corey Hart and Mike Cameron each drove a pair in the route.
Jeff Suppan goes for the win and the series Saturday night.
