Those amazing 2010 Tampa Bay Buccaneers & Flashback 2009

Before we get into some amazing stuff from 2010, lets go back in time to last year when the Bucs shocked the Saints in the SuperDome!

That has NEVER happened before in Bucs history! Mike Williams has 10 Touchdowns on the year, Breaking the Rookie record held by Mike Clayton in 2004 with 7. But Williams in his first year, is one touchdown away from breaking the ALL TIME Bucs TD record held by Joey Galloway in 2005! The most any Bucs has EVER scored in one year is 10 TDs, and Williams is one away from becoming that and more in the Bucs record books! Josh Freeman has 23 touchdowns, the second most ever by any Bucs Quarterback, but he’s only 22 years old!! Josh is in his second year, yet he is 3 TD Passes away from tying Brad Johnson’s 2003 record 26 TD passes. One of the biggest accomplishements I feel was the beating of San Francisco on the road for the first time since 1980. Some of you will say that wasn’t a good team the Bucs beat. It doesn’t matter; the Bucs had better teams and lost those games when the 49ers were even worse than they are this season. You dont go 1-11 against a team and say all of the losses were deserving. But that is now over, and not only did the Bucs win, they shut out the 49ers 21-0. Remember the days when every time the Bucs were about to receive a kickoff, an announcer had to say “The Bucs have never returned a kickoff for a Touchdown in their xx year history” with a little stat flying down blow telling us how many thousand kick returns have been attempted? Well those days are gone for a long time, and the Bucs are doing their best to keep that away for many years. The Bucs have now returned a Kickoff for a Touchdown EVERY YEAR for four years in a row! Starting with Spurlock’s initial return in 2007 vs Atlanta, Then Clifton Smith’s KC miracle return, and Sammy Stroughter’s bring back against the Panthers last year. This season, Spurlock did his magic once again, and like his first time, against the Falcons! Maybe they will change the stat to read “The Bucs have never had a KIck Off Return by anyone with a last name that doesnt start with an ‘S’. Bucs kick returners have an “S” alright, on their chest.
