To be real, the Bucs missed the playoffs by a tiebreaker. They finished even with the NY Giants, but somewhere they lost to a team they should have beaten. Take your pick;
- Pass interferance against K2 that the NFL said Sorry for
- One foot short vs Atlanta
- Not getting a good ‘push’ on falcons kick returner
- another bad call on an interception vs Atlanta
But Tampa Bay AND New York finished 3 games above Seattle. The Bucs just beat Seattle 38-15. Yet Seattle is hosting a playoff game, and the Bucs are preparing for the offseason. Contrary to popular belief, I am not calling for wholesale changes to the playoff formula. I AM calling for them if they go to an 18 game schedule where division games only account for 33% of the games played. Before the re-alignment, you played 8 division games in 16, or going back further 14 games before the change to 16 in 1978. No, what I’m calling for is a college type ‘bowl qualifier’ system, where you MUST finish 8-8 to make the playoffs, and you MUST finish with a winning record to host a home playoff game. There is NO REASON for the New Orleans Saints to play AT Seattle this coming weekend. Its a joke, its a travesty, and its embarrassing to the NFL. Seattle gives the NFL a black eye this year, but its only fair; so many teams have punched Seattle into oblivion in 2010.
