The Brewers were able to jump ahead early again Wednesday day, scoring 4 times before the Dodgers even came up to bat. When they did, though, 4 of the first 6 batters reached against Doug Davis, but the Dodgers were only able to score twice.
Davis settled down from there, ultimately pitching into the 6th inning in a solid-but-unspectacular start.
The Brewers offense was able to score 11 runs without the use of a single home run, making it just the second time the Brewers have won without hitting a homer this year. It’s a stat that probably doesn’t mean much, but you could also say it summarizes the Brewers’ offense in a nutshell — they score a ton of runs when they win, and usually that is a result of a homer or two.
Wednesday night, though, it was just the result of everyone getting involved. Rickie Weeks drove in 3, Prince Fielder and Casey McGehee both drove in 2, and Alcides Escobar had a 2-out RBI triple.
It was the first time this year that the Dodgers lost back-to-back home games, and it was the first time since 2008 that they allowed 10 or more runs in back-to-back games. The Brewers have a chance at their first-ever sweep of the Dodgers on Thursday.
