Mobile Alabama is the home of the Senior Bowl, the collegiate version of the Pro Bowl except for students who are coming out of the college ranks and into the pros. The game is on the NFL Network, and if your still one of the few people who do NOT have the NFL Network, its time to DUMP Bright House, the only provider left who DOES NOT have the channel (that’s right, you can get NFL Network on Direct TV, Dish, Knowlogy, Verizon Fios, even most cell phones, but not on Bright House). Cadillac Williams knows all about the Senior Bowl, when Jon Gruden and the Bucs coaches were in charge of coaching the South team, and it gave them an opportunity to see close up these players and their attributes. While the Bucs wont be coaching this year, they will be there, as will every other NFL coach. It’s a sort of ‘who’s who’ among the NFL brass, because its not only players that get looked at here. The Bucs will be shopping for their Defensive Line coach as well as their Defensive Line player here in Mobile! Even out of work coaching hopefuls attend in the hopes of getting that contact that will produce an NFL Job. The Senior Bowl will probably have the single most influencing effect on whom the Bucs draft in 2011. Raheem Morris has said they will take the best player possible and not draft by need, but picking lower now, there are few stand out players like that left. And with defensive end position being well represented this year, the Bucs are almost sure to address their lack of a pass rush with one if not two DEs. The 2011 Bucs could be represented by the last two draft’s 1st and 2nd round players at each position! The Bucs will also look at linebacker, where Quincy Black and Barrett Rudd are free agents. Of course whether there IS a free agency is another matter, but I get the feeling the Bucs are still high on Black, but are looking for competition at Geno Haye’s Weak side spot as well as Rudd’s Middle Linebacker home he took over from Shelton Quarles in 2007. Another Draft like 2010 and we could be watching the Bucs grab another George S Halas trophy sometime soon.
