Everything Coming Up Milhouse for Milwaukee

Coming Up Milhouse

Things have been looking up for the Brewers lately. They’ve won 7 of 8 heading into Friday night. They have the second-best team ERA in the National League (2.98), and over the last 9 games they’ve only allowed 17 earned runs in 81 innings. Since picking up their first win of the season, the Brewers are hitting .270/.346/.409 as a team, with Prince Fielder (.433/.469/.867) and Ryan Braun (.320/.485/.600) leading the way during that stretch.

All of this without two major pieces — Zack Greinke and Corey Hart. It doesn’t look like they’ll be without them for much longer, though.

The Brewers announced Friday afternoon that Hart will begin a rehab assignment in Nashville on Tuesday, while Greinke will make his first rehab start that day for High-A Brevard County. Greinke will then make his next rehab start on regular rest for Nashville, and the club will evaluate him from there.

If Greinke makes three rehab starts, his first start as a Brewer will come in Atlanta on May 4. As Eric Johnson from Brewerfan.net pointed out, that would mean his first home start would be May 9 against San Diego. How long do you think it will take for that game to sell out?

There are a lot of things to like about the Brewers’ recent hot streak on the field, but perhaps most importantly, it’s allowing the club to take its time in bringing Greinke and Hart back into the fold. If the team was still struggling, perhaps there would have been more pressure to rush them back and risk re-injury.

Who knew baseball would be this fun again after the way the season started?
