Dominik Resigned

Dominik ResignedGreat news for Buccaneer fans. According to sources, General Manager, Mark Dominik was given a 4 year contract extension on Monday, April 11.

Dominik has been widely considered by people around the NFL as one of the young rising GM’s in the game and its easy to see why with players such as Josh Freeman, Mike Williams, Legarrette Blount and others making up the roster.

The Buccaneers had originally picked up  Dominik’s one year option going into the 2011 season, but it was still a toss up as to whether or not Dominik was going to get a contract extension before the 2011 season was over.

This was a great move by Joel Glazer and his brothers because Dominik has been a major part of the Bucs rebuilding process and without him, Tampa wouldn’t be in the position they are now.

Now that hes got his contract, its time to earn it. Dominik needs to continue being a tireless worker and stay on course with his plan.

Since taking over the GM role in 2009, Dominik has done a major youth overhaul on the Bucs. He wasn’t too popular with the fans about 2 years ago when he cut veteran players that had been in Tampa for a long time, mainly Derrick Brooks, and was quickly criticized by fans on if he knew what he was doing. Needless to say, the purge was needed and as much as Buccaneer fans love Derrick Brooks, it was time to move forward.

The major attachment to Dominik is quarterback, Josh Freeman. Freeman was Dominik’s first ever draft pick and he shrewdly moved up a few slots to select him. Another move that lead Buccaneer fans calling for his head, ended up with Buccaneer fans being very optimistic for years to come as Josh Freeman is going to be a star in the NFL for a very long time.

Im thrilled with this and couldn’t be happier about how early the Glazer’s have gotten on top of this.

I stated earlier in my Mark Dominik must be Resigned article about a week ago that the Glazer’s shouldn’t even flirt with letting Dominik go. Whether or not they read my article, Im just happy that they were on the same page.
