The Brewers welcome the New York Mets to the Terror Dome (aka Miller Park) for a three-game set starting Friday night with a matchup of Brewers righty Mike Fiers (9-7, 3.05 ERA, 2.66 FIP) versus Mets lefty Jon Niese (10-9, 3.47 ERA, 3.86 FIP). The Brewers will try to match a ten-game home winning streak that represents a record for the franchise and was set over 30 years ago. Proper series previews can be seen here and here. Hopefully the Brew Crew can maintain their excellent play of late against the Metropolitans and carry that forward to a road trip that includes stops in Pittsburgh, the District of Columbia and Cincinnati as part of a 16-consecutive-game swing to end the year. The visits to D.C. and Cincy look especially tough, but the vibe from the players indicates they’re having fun and are excited to be playing better, meaningful baseball. Either way, it will be a blast to watch. I’ll be catching games in person on that Pitt-D.C.-Cincy stretch in all three cities, so I look forward to bumping into any Brewers fans out there and cheering the team on as they look to do some more damage before the schedule runs out. Go Brewers!!
