There hasn’t been much going on with the Milwaukee Brewers thus far in terms of free agency or trades, but as annoying as it can be for fans to deal with day after day of no big news, GM Doug Melvin has a lot on his plate. Arguably the most stressful, significant and busy time for a general manager, the offseason is likely a game of ‘hurry up and wait’ for most MLB front office personnel as they target players they’re interested in and then have to patiently abide by the market’s gradual arrival. Oftentimes the big dominoes (like Zack Greinke) need to fall before lesser ones are willing to sign. So far this offseason, we’ve seen a slow trickle of signings and trades, along with periods of inactivity. I’m sure Melvin will have some things cooking by the time he heads to Nashville for the Winter Meetings in early December. As painful as it is to just sit back and watch other teams make moves, sometimes the better, smarter deals come to the teams who wait. Happy Thanksgiving, Brewers fans!
