They may be young, but they are definitely up and coming.
Quarterback Josh Freeman and Wide Receiver Mike Williams, both cracked the top 100 players in the NFL with Freeman coming in at 86 and Williams coming in at 83 . This is more impressive because this was a vote casted by their NFL piers.
Both Freeman and Williams are well deserving of this. Without them, the Bucs would not of gone 10-6.
Its good to know that players around the league are taking notice that Josh Freeman and Williams are special players. To me, Freeman should of been a little bit higher, but thats just me, none the less, I’m happy hes being recognized, period.
Remember, if Williams hadnt been considered a “trouble maker”, he easily would of been one of the first wide outs off the board in the first round, and he very well could of gone in front of the Cowboys’ Dez Bryant. The talent was always there, it was just a “character” concern with Williams.
Williams came in as a 4th round rookie and established himself as the number one receiver and Freeman’s favorite target his first day on head quarters. Williams made plays all year long, breaking the Bucs single season receiving touch down record with 11 and came up just 36 yards short of recording his first 1000 yard season. He was also money on 3 and 4th down.
Freeman has been everything you look for in a franchise quarterback and more. A Peyton Manning like approach to the game and a Big Ben/Donovan McNabb type skill set, Freeman has a deadly combination that many quarterbacks only dream of having.
A huge quarterback at 6’6” 250, Freeman has the size, mobility, awareness, arm strength, toughness, attitude, accuracy, and mental makeup to be the best quarterback in the NFL. He already has 7 fourth quarter comebacks under his belt and Im confident that there will be more to come.
Congratulations to both Freeman and Williams. This is only the first step to being at the top. They will continue to grow together and one day, I know that they will be mentioned as two of the elite players and quarterback to wide receiver combo’s in the NFL.
