Welcome Aboard- July 30th’s Welcome to last of Tampa Bay Buccaneers signings

We here at the Bucstop would like to welcome back two potential starters, as well as welcome in a new secret weapon and other signed draft picks

Michael KoenenKoenen

Position: Punter/Kick Off Specialist

Years Pro: 6

College: Western Washington

Acquired: Unrestricted Free Agent… wait, Dominik went out and spent money on a free agent?  Pop the champagne!

Size: 5’11, 198 lbs

Pros: Booming leg, excellent at kickoffs, proven

Cons: 6 year contract?

2011 Outlook:  With the 6 year contract, Koenen will be the Bucs punter and kick-off guy this year.  Expect to see a ton of touchbacks on kickoffs.

Future Outlook: 6 year deal ensures the Bucs will be using Koenen’s services for the next few years

Luke Stockerstocker

Position: Tight End

Years Pro: Rookie

College: Tennessee

Acquired: 2011 Draft, 4th Round

Size: 6’5, 258 lbs

Pros: Very good hands, makes tough catches in traffic, large

Cons: Needs work on blocking, especially run blocking

2011 Outlook:  The Bucs love having weapons for Josh Freeman, and Stocker will be one.  He will create open space in the middle of the field and be a great addition for the red zone

Future Outlook: If he pans out, he will be Kellen Winslow III, minus the rants about being a soldier

Please READ MORE for Anthony Gaitor, Ahmad Black, Davin Joseph and Jeremy Trueblood.

Anthony Gaitorgaitor

Position: Cornerback

Years Pro: Rookie

College: FIU

Acquired: 2011 Draft, 7th Round

Size: 5’10, 177 lbs

Pros: Fast (4.5 40), quick acceleration, high jumping ability

Cons: Small, needs strength, needs to work on tackling

2011 Outlook:  Gaitor seems to be 4th or 5th on the depth chart right now, but with a solid preseason could work his way to a solid 4th.  If he is there and excels on special teams, he makes the 53 squad. Otherwise Practice squad is his final destination.

Future Outlook: Mark Dominik’s track record with late round draft picks is proven, so hopefully Gaitor will be a steal with his speed and ability to cover.

Ahmad BlackWelcome Aboard- July 30th's Welcome to last of Tampa Bay Buccaneers signings

Position: Safety

Years Pro: Rookie

College: Florida

Acquired: 2011 Draft, 5th Round

Size: 5’10, 184 lbs

Pros: Ball-hawk, experienced special teams player, run stuffer

Cons: Slower than desired, did not prepare well for combine

2011 Outlook:  Having played an extraordinary amount of special teams at UF, Black seems to figure perfectly as a backup Safety and special teams player

Future Outlook: Although his speed is a concern, Black could fill in perfectly as a Safety in the Cover 2 down the road with experience

Davin Josephjoseph

Position: Right Guard

Years Pro: 5

College: Oklahoma

Acquired: 2006 Draft, 1st Round

Size: 6’3, 313 lbs

Pros: A force on the line, biggest hands you will ever see, superb run blocker

Cons: Sometimes pancakes players too well and gets called for holding

2011 Outlook:  Introducing your 2011 starting Right Guard, Davin Joseph

Future Outlook: Introducing your 2012-2015 starting Right Guard, Davin Joseph

Jeremy Trueblood

Position: Right Tackletrueblood

Years Pro: 5

College: Boston College

Acquired: 2006 Draft, 2nd Round

Size: 6’8, 320 lbs

Pros: Massive size, Run Blocking, great attitude, a lot of motivation for this season

Cons: False start, 65, offense, 5 yard penalty, repeat 1st down, too easy to make vampire jokes

2011 Outlook:  Was beat out by James Lee last season after Trueblood went down to injury, so now Trueblood has to fight for his position.  Right now, it’s an even fight

Future Outlook: If Trueblood beats out James Lee for starting Right Tackle, look for his 2 year contract to get extended to shore up the right side of the line for years to come
