PRESEASON MEETINGS
Miami leads series 16-9
The Preseason history between these two teams has been a long standing one, with a lot of history. Playing preseason games from the Bucs inception, the two squads eliminated the contests for awhile in the early eightys as Dolphins owner Joe Robbie felt the Bucs were treating the game like a SuperBowl.
In this video, you’ll see some amazing things that only happen in preseason- Like Dolphin Head Coach Jimmy Johnson starting a game out with an onsides kick, but thats not all. Watch the whole oppening possession for J.J. phins, one onside kick is nothing!
Did you know what happened the very first play under the Jon Gruden era? You’ll see it here, it was week 1 vs the Dolphins at home at Ray Jay.
Even though the games dont count, they are still the FIRSTS for a lot of events. Who was the very first person to score a Touchdown while wearing a pewter uniform? You’ll see that here too! It too was against Miami.
And hey, preseason is exactly that, a time to make mistakes. I made one making this video, the last two clips are played out of order! The year tag on the screen tells you what year it shoud have been, but hey…its preseason! Enjoy!

MIAMI GARDENS – Despite only 206 total yards of offense, The Miami Dolphins managed to erase a 7-0 deficit and edge Tampa Bay by a score of 10-7 at Sun Life Stadium. Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman completed all four of his pass attempts for 53 yards total, including a 13-yard strike to WR Sammie Stroughter, giving Tampa Bay an early 7-0 lead. The Tampa Bay defense was stout, holding the Miami rushing attack to just a 2.4 yards-per- carry average and limiting the Dolphins to just 3-for-13 on third down attempts. Miami finally got on the scoreboard with four seconds remaining in the first half when K Dan Carpenter hit a 33-yard field goal to cut the Tampa Bay lead to 7-3. Miami held the ball for just over six minutes in the first half and failed to convert any of their six third down attempts. Dolphins QB Tyler Thigpen completed back-to-back pass plays for 11 and 34- yards respectively, to set up a Lex Hilliard two-yard rushing touchdown, which capped a seven-play, 61-yard scoring drive to give Miami a 10-7 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Hilliard’s score would go on to account for the game winner, as Tampa Bay was unable to capitalize on any of its three fourth quarter offensive drives.
