Who’s excited to play for Cleveland!?!?!?!
Despite Nick Gilbert not being in attendance, the Cleveland Cavaliers won the NBA lottery for the third time in four years, however, this was different to previous years. In 2011 they had just a 2.8% chance of the number one pick, in 2013 a higher 15.6% chance, this year? How about a measly 1.7%? That’s all they needed, and by winning the lottery the Cavaliers have become the luckiest and instantaneously the most hated team in the NBA, just about every other team has just about had enough of Cleveland getting not one, or two, but THREE chances to save their franchise following the departure of Lebron James in 2010. For theos skeptics among you, this will go some way to cement the “fixed” theory with the NBA lottery, but should it? Surley if the NBA were trying to fix it they wouldn’t make it so obvious? Or is that what they’re thinking!? Damn it they’re smart bastards!
Look for the Cavs to draft Joel Embiid at #1, they have been in search of a big man to build around this summer and Embiid fits the bill perfectly. Pro Basketball Draft reported two days ago that David Griffin was looking to package Varejao and Thompson together and find a new center, and now they have one with unlimited upside sitting on their lap ready for the taking. New GM David Griffin instantly became the best General Manager in the league while representing the Cavaliers at the lottery, he even had the nerve to rub it into Sixers great Dr J who was standing next to him, Dr J quite frankly looked… well…pissed, and so he should be. Dr J, along with the rest of the NBA world were in disbelief:
da hell.

I’m with you Cousins!
However with one team moving up eight places, there are a lot of losers out there, no more so than the Detroit Pistons who lost their pick to the Charlotte Hornets after they slipped to the 9th selection. Stan Van Gundy has already got off to a rocky start in Detroit and we’re not even out of May, after so much recent positivity in motor city, there is another dark day in Detroit. The Charlotte Hornets on the other hand are on cloud nine (I should know), not only did they make the playoffs and find a franchise player in Big Al this year, but they now have two 1st round picks at #9 and #24 in one of the most loaded drafts in the last decade, not bad eh? This undoubtedly is the best day in Hornets history, the bad news? Its all down hill from here Charlotte fans, enjoy it while you can. Fans will be happy to move on past the old Bobcats era, the ghost of Anthony Davis still haunts them, this new Hornets thing is cool though, its been pretty great so far!
The other biggest losers are Orlando, all Magic fans were wanting was stay in the top three and take one of Embiid, Wiggins or Parker, now they have slipped to four and it looks unlikely (but not impossible) any of them will be available. For as bad as it may seem it could be much worse, if you were to pick #4 in a draft this is the year to do it, it looks as if they will have a choice between Exum, Smart and Randle, much better than last years’ #4 pick Cody Zeller. So despite things not being as good as they could be, it could be a lot worse Orlando, so keep your chin up.
I understand this hasn’t got the best analysis in the world, but its 2:30am in the morning, I am both fueled on adrenaline and physically and mentally drained, when the NBA says “Where Amazing Happens” they weren’t lying!
