Congrats Rays! Tampa Bay comes back from 9 Games down, and 7 runs down in the 8th to reach playoffs

raysCongradulation to the Tampa Bay Rays for their historic, if not Alka-Seltzer inducing comeback; both over the 9 game deficit they faced at the top of the month, and the 7 run step back they put theirselves into in the Bottom of the 8th.

To make it more exciting, the Boston Red Sox led the Orioles all night, and it looked like the effort would be admonished, but not to be rewarded. After the Rays tied the game with a Bottom of the 9th, 2 Out, 2 strike HR to the lower walled corners that were CREATED in 2007, Baltimore also tied the Red Sox in the bottom of the 9th.

The Lower Corners were added in 2007 when Rays management decided that great over the wall catches that deny Home Runs were spectacular plays, so they were installed, espcially since the Rays had a guy who could make those kind of plays; Carl Crawford.

Enter Crawford in Baltimore who failed on a catch and throw to home that scored the winning run for Baltimore. This minutes after Dan Johnson hit his shot into the right field lower wall corner. Then Evan Longoria hit his second HR of the night, into the LEFT field lower wall corner; the one designed for Crawford to save from!

In the end, Rays manager John Maddon said it best “This was a hollywood script no one would believe”.

Rays begin the playoffs against the Texas Rangers Friday night on the road.
