A Bad start led to a disastrous 1st Quarter

The 49ers are a well coached team; they knew the Bucs had a tendancy to start off slow in games, especially in the first quarter. The 49ers won the coin toss, and deferred; they kicked off to the Bucs. Tampa Bay fell into the trap.

The Bucs had a managable 3rd and 3, and converted with a pass to Preston Parker.

FLAG! Mike Williams, reminding more and more Bucs fans of another Michael with all of his drops, was so obvious with his flagrant motion, he was flagged for illegal motion, ruining the first down. The Bucs had to punt.

It got worse when Tampa Bay took over on defense. Brian Price was offsides and gave the 49ers a free easy first down. A minute and a half later, they made the Bucs pay.

Football teams have characteristics, and other teams learn of them, and exploit them. Until the Bucs can learn to  start faster, teams are going to exploit that area of concern. The 49ers already did, and the Saints are sure to do it next.
