Were not going to do it, its too easy. The Michael Clayton to Mike Williams name game, Mr. Clayton didnt invent the Sophomore slump, and so far thats what it appears to be. He’s having some key drops, including causing an Interception early against the Bears that could have been game changing. But after that, Williams caught 75 yards along with Dezmon Briscoe, and Mike Williams seemed to settle down a bit.
Are we reading too much into it? Maybe, we’ll have to wait and see what happens as the year goes on. As I pointed out today, Josh Freeman is struggling because the Bucs running game has struggled. Once that running attack kicks in more consistantly with LeGarrette Blount, Josh Freeman’s play action fake will have more FAKE to it.
Not that Freeman is the fault as to whats been wrong with Mike Williams, but Williams knows he has a problem, he’s acknowledged it so. He is getting double teams, but that is life in the NFL. Jerry Rice was double teamed his whole career. You have to deal with it.
