Bucs Starting Center is a career with major job security!

FaineThere are a number of people who want Jeremy Zuttah to take over permanently for Jeff Faine as Bucs starter. You cant help but think Zuttah is one of them. What he probably doesnt realize, is that along with the prestige of being a starter in the NFL, being a Starting Center for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers leads to a career of long term service; and serious Job security.

Since 2003, The Bucs have started 11 Quarterbacks, thats Eleven QBs in the last 10 years. The Bucs have only had 7 Centers since the Franchise was created! Thats right, SEVEN.

1976-77 Dan Ryczek
1978-1984 Steve Wilson
1985-1990 Randy Grimes
1991-2000 Tony Mayberry
2001- 2002 Steve Christie
2003-2007 John Wade
2008- Present Jeff Faine

Probably more remarkable was the fact in 2000 the Bucs had only  had 4 Centers in 25 seasons, Quite an accomplishement, still, 7 in 35 isnt too shabby either. The early years were dominated by Steve Wilson and Randy Grimes, both of whom suffered from substance abuse issues, but overcame their demons to clean up their lives.

When you think of how many WRs or Running Backs, or even Defensive Ends or Linebackers the Bucs have had in the same time, but those positions are numbered with several being on the field at the same time. Conceivably, Zuttah could take over and man the position for a decade. Probably either way, the Bucs will be in good hands!
