Offense- Half Way Grades

Earlier today we did the Defense, lets take a  look at the other side of the ball

OFFENSE

OFFENSIVE LINE  B-
By far, and I mean FAR, FAR, Away, The Bucs offensive line is the most veteran group on the team. The entire rest of the Bucs team has 2 players on this team that played for Jon Gruden, one on Injured reserve, the other was drafted by Tony Dungy. The Entire Offensive Line was hand picked by Jon Gruden, most of them are playing their second contract. Donald Penn was a practice squad pick off the Vikings and got his gig in 2007. Jeff Faine was a Free Agent pickup in 2008. Jeremy Zuttah was a 2008 Draft pick who started as a rookie in place of Aaron Sears. Davin Joseph and Jeremy Trueblood were 2006 draft picks who are still here years later. Together, this line gives Josh Freeman a good amount of time, and makes some good lanes for LeGarrette Blount. Are they the best line in the Biz? No.
But they are one of the upper O line units in the league, and they are more cohesive than our Super Bowl line ever was.

RUNNING BACK B-
The exact opposite of the O line, the running back corp has ZERO depth. LeGarrette Blount is now the ONLY NFL calibur running back on the roster. With Earnest Graham the only back who could pass protect, many fans are wondering why the Bucs didnt bring back Cadillac Williams. Without a doubt, if Mossis Madu doesnt work out, the Bucs will spend their NO.1 pick next year on a running back.

WIDE RECEIVERS C+
Many say the Bucs Wide Receiving corp is a group of No.2 WRs with no real NO.1 threat. That may be so, but that probably wont be determined for a few years as they sift through each other. Who knows maybe Dezmon Briscoe is the  NO.1 guy for this team, or maybe he’s not even on the roster. Josh Freeman will have to stop locking in on his two main guys, and find two new ones if he has to.

TIGHT END- C-
Kellen Winslow JR’s numbers are down this year, so what gives? is it the QB? Or K2? Luke Stocker is going to be something special, you can tell. He needs to stay healthy though. The rest are TE fodder.

QUARTERBACK – Incomplete
This is all about one person, Josh Freeman. His numbers are down, but as weve shown here, Freeman is a victim of the Bucs running game. When the run game is on, so is Josh. He is not developed enough to take over a game by himself; he will one day, but for now he needs the run game for the play action fake. Josh Freeman also caught fire in the second half of last year, so we have a lot to see from No. 5 this year. For now, its an incomplete.
