Rams win shows the upside to losing

You know the feeling; unless your a complete bandwagon fan who changes teams every few years, youve supported a loser at one time of another. Im guilty of being a Cubs fan since ’89, and a Bucs fan all throughout the 83-96 seasons of misery.

Dont get me wrong, I wouldnt trade winning even half of our games for anything, but there is something to be said for being terrible.
You watch every game hoping, thinking, wondering, why cant my team play competetively?

Then 20 minutes goes by and your down 21-0 and you know the game is over. Now you just want to see the players play good so you can see them on the highlight show at night time.

But every once in a while, usually when you least expect it, your crappy teams goes out and gets a little moementum. And the other team plays their B game because they think they will win just by showing up. That my friend, is the recipe for disaster, and it was the recipe for the St. Louis Rams yesterday against the New Orleans Saints.

Ive seen the Super Bowl, and I even remember fondly the NFC CHampionship win over the eagles, but yet nothing comes close to me to the day in 1993denver that Dave Moore caught a TD from Craig Erickson and the Bucs were tied with the Broncos 7-7 most of the game. Mind you, this was IN DENVER, at mile high stadium, one of the toughest places to play. And this was the Bucs, or pardon, the YUCKS. Wearing their orange pants, the Bucs somehow, someway, found a way to upset the Denver Broncos in Mile High with John Elway as QB.

Sam Wyche took the field and shook EVERYONE’s hand!

bearsOr 1989, playing the Chicago Bears at home, the Bears had beaten us 12 games in a row, and they were DA BEARS, a team of Ditka, Singletary, Payton, we were DeBerg, Broderick Thomas, Mark Carrier.
We beat them- at home mind you, among 35 thousand Bucs fans…and 25,000 from the midwest!! But it was one of the greatest feelings in the world. You watched every sports highlight channel to see it over and over again!

If only they had the NFL network back then…we would have watched every hour, on the hour back then! While I wouldnt trade our 4-3 record for that of the Rams, I do envy the feeling they have today after winning that game against the Saints!
