Before 2002, the Bucs were in the NFC Central with the Bears, Lions, Vikings and Packers. The NFC South was created from a ripped apart NFC West which sprouted into a 5 team division when Carolina was put in with the 49ers, Rams, Saints, Falcons; so the Falcons, Saints and Panthers were put in a new division with the Bucs, and Seattle was brought from the AFC to the NFC and the Cardinals were ripped from the NFC East.
