You can pin the blame on a lot of areas, in fact the Targets are getting bigger and bigger each week. The Bucs have now lost 3 of the last 4 games, they are hitting the midseason in a slump. At 3-1 you couldnt say much to criticize, but at 4-4, well thats the definition of mediocre. When the season started, you probably would have taken 4-4 as ok. Most people had the Bucs going 8-8. But somehow it doesnt feel OK at this juncture; And the blame falls on EVERYONE at One Buc.
COACHING- No one likes Raheem Morris better than I do. But if this were the Raiders, we would be saying “Penalties = Coaching” and the same holds true for Tampa Bay. If you cannot get the players to stop doing something, anything, then you lack their complete control and or respect.
MANAGEMENT- Teams must improve each year. Go back in time, and the 2009 Bucs would kill the 1979 Bucs 48-3. Football teams get bigger, better, faster each year, and never more so than in the age of free agency. I’m ok with the Bucs sticking to their plan to draft their core, but I dont want to hear about it in 2012. You know who your core is, and Geno Hayes and Quincy Black AINT IT. Next year, start using that Cap to IMPROVE YOUR TEAM.
DEFENSIVE LINE- Gerald McCoy will return next year with a label printed out and ready to apply to him. No, not Bust, GMC is productive as a DT, a lot of people dont realize that Sacks dont come from DT, they come from the ends. Warren Sapp will be in the Hall of Fame soon. Only a once in a lifetime player Sapp was, McCoy cant be expected to be just like Sapp. But the label will read INJURY PRONE if he does not make it through 2012 without a major injury.
LINEBACKERS- Geno Hayes and Quincy Black are average linebackers at best. Its too late to draft new linebackers, it will take them until 2014 to get up to speed. The Bucs have a need for free agent LBs going into 2012. Ask Yourself, how many good defensive teams would Hayes and Black be able to start on?
OFFENSIVE PLAYCALLING- LeGarrette Blount had a moment, we get it. But move on…you dont have an option, Kregg Lumpkin is not a viable option. He has ZERO escapeability. If he were paid based on his Yards after catch, he would starve. Blount had a 5.5 average Sunday, at one point in the first quarter he had runs of 15, 8 and 7 yards. That is 40% of his game output on his first three runs. The only way Blount is going to learn how to pass block and catch passes is to get him out there.
