If this were a top 10 poll, I’d have no problems with it. The actual poll has the same 10 teams in the top 10 as I did in my hypothetical vote, though not all in the same positions. Some of those are admittedly a bit curious — Ohio State extend their winning streak to nine matches, so the result is they’re dropped a rank from last week? Stanford moved up a rank despite losing their lone match last week. But still, it’s got the same 10 teams as my vote, so I can’t be too upset with it.
Ranks 11 through 15 confuse me greatly. Hawaii remain at #11 despite their two losses last week, and are in fact just a single point back of 10th. Cal Baptist moved up a rank despite not playing, and sure enough, USC are still ranked, though they did (finally) take a precipitous tumble, losing four ranks. Harvard crawled up a rank, which is kind of nice to see, though this is a weird week for it since their opponents last week were two of the weakest teams in the nation. If they similarly come out of this week with two wins, against much better opposition, one would hope their stock would continue to rise, but I’m definitely in “wait and see” mode on that.
